Morphs by Rav

FAQ's
A note about morph quality. Morphs come in 2 'flavors'--.gif, and .swf (or Flash) Flash files are smaller in size, and smoother in appearance.  However, they are also not uploadable into picture galleries in many websites, such as MySpace. For this reason, 'basic' morphs are provided in .gif format, while .swf files are an optional product purchase.  See my 'Pic Tips' page for an example of how these differ in appearance.

Q:  How do I get my images to you to be morphed?
A:  Send them to rav@morphsbyrav.com along with your order # in the subject line.

Q:  How long will it take to get my morph?
A:  In general, within a week.  If it will take longer, you will be notified by e-mail citing the reason.  If you purchase the 'express' option your morph will be ready within 24 hours of your order.  Since I'm doing this in my spare time, I have to work around my regular job, which current keeps me at a desk on Fridays through Mondays, 8am to 8pm Pacific time.  Hence, I'll be doing most morphing on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Q:  Why don't you accept credit cards?
A:  Accepting credit cards means associated costs that I'm not willing to invest in unless this website is very successful.  Paypal is a well-known intermediary for online transactions and it seemed the best place to start for a low start-up cost.  While the extra income has been nice, it hasn't been enough to justify the expenses one incurs in order to accept credit cards directly.

Q:  What if I don't like my morph?
A:  I will make every attempt to make the best morph possible.  The pictures submitted are those of your choosing, and not all pictures will make suitable morph material.  If this is the case with your pictures, I will notify you before I even begin working on them the give you the opportunity to re-submit with different photographs.  However, ultimately the picture choice is up to you. If you decide to have me make a morph with pictures I don't think will make the nicest morph possible, then I will do my best and you will still be charged for the morph delivered.

Q:  So, then what pictures will make the best morphs?
A:  Although the finished morphs are relatively small, it's best that I receive the biggest pictures possible with which to work.  If the morph is of a person, it's best that no portion of the face or hair touch the end of the picture.  Backgrounds with little 'noise' are preferred, as well ('noise', in this instance, means elements besides the morph subject--see my 'Pic Tips' page for more details.

Q:  What kind of software do you use to create morphs?
A:  I use off-the-shelf software that's been upgraded as much as possible to provide every possible custom morph capability.

Q:  How long have you been morphing?
A:  It's not so much 'how long' but rather how many morphs I've done.  As of November 2008, I've done well over 400 morphs, including one with nearly 200 transitions.  With every one have better learned the skills and techniques needed to produce the smoothest transition possible from one picture into another.  Each morph has at least 100 points of reference mapped into them (some have many many more) to ensure features progress smoothly from one image to another.

Q:  Once I have my morph, how do I use it?
A:  That depends on what you want to do with it.  The basic morph is a .gif image, which can be uploaded to your personal MySpace (Facebook, etc.) profile just like any other image, or it can be emailed.  If you want to post it in a blog or webpage, the .gif image is posted using the 'img src' html code, and the flash version is posted using the 'embed src' html code.  I can also create them in .avi and .mpg versions for Facebook and Youtube.  There are dozens of free websites that give instructions on how to post them, just ask and I'll direct you to some of them.

Q:  Will I get to see my morph before it's competed?
A:  No, not at this time.  If this becomes a big issue I'll work on trying to make this possible.

Q:  Who are the people morphed on your website?
A:  They are all friends who were gracious enough to allow me to post their morphs online here as examples for my prospective clients to see.  If I really like the morph I've created for you, I may offer you a refund in exchange for permission to post it here.

Q:  What if my computer crashs and I lose my morph?
A:  I keep backups of all morphs I do for paying clients, so I can resend them if this should happen.
